PASSION FOR PERFORMANCE

A Spyker is much more than a highly exclusive and design sports car. As performance is one of Spyker’s key objectives it is also a very powerful car

Spyker’s models all benefit from the experience that the company has gained by entering basically standard Spykers (C8 Double12 R and C8 Spyder GT2R) in the international race arena, such as the gruelling 24-hours of Le Mans and the 12-hours of Sebring.

Spyker’s main design principle is that the shape of the car should never interfere with its function; every part of the car, every detail must be genuine and have a proper function.

Apart from these, many other engineering details reveal that the C8 is in effect a road-going race car. The streamlined floor section of the car creates the down force that keeps the car hugged to the ground at even the highest speed levels. The visible body details that help provide these ground effects are the splitter plate at the front and the diffuser at the rear, which is beautifully integrated in the rear body section.

The best example to underline Spyker’s passion for performance is the fact that the company has already won two major victories with its new race model, the Spyder GT2R. This race car obtained two podium places in 2005 by finishing second in its class in September 2005 during the LMES 1000km of Nürburgring (LMGT class), Germany and in November 2005 during the FIA GT (GT class) race in Dubai.
